Kristy Shanahan’s Glimpses Into Other Worlds was developed into a screenplay before the 2026 London Book Fair, where it was presented as part of the event’s featured works.
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, 29th Apr 2026 – At its core, the book asks a simple but far-reaching question: how have people across history tried to explain encounters they could not fully understand? To explore this, Shanahan draws on mythology, historical records, military documentation, and scientific theory to examine reports of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). It connects ancient accounts with modern interpretations of unexplained aerial events, including biblical narratives of Enoch and Elijah, Mesopotamian references to the Anunnaki, and contemporary cases such as the 1947 Roswell incident.

Shanahan, a recently retired medical laboratory scientist and educator in biomedical and biological sciences, organizes this material into three areas of inquiry: Outer Space (The Heavens), Ultraterrestrials and Other Dimensions, and The Inner Dimension.
Each section approaches the same question from a different angle. The Outer Space section reviews historical and modern accounts of aerial phenomena alongside scientific exploration of the cosmos.
The Ultraterrestrials and Other Dimensions section considers whether such accounts might reflect ideas of parallel realities, drawing on mythological systems such as the Celtic Otherworld and the Nine Norse Realms, as well as theoretical physics models including string theory and M-theory.
The Inner Dimension shifts the focus inward, exploring consciousness and perception through figures such as Edgar Cayce, military remote viewing programs, and the Orch-OR model, which proposes that quantum processes within the brain’s microtubules may play a role in consciousness.
Across these sections, the book returns to a central thread: how different cultures and disciplines attempt to interpret the same category of unexplained experience. Rather than focusing solely on reported sightings, it examines how meaning is constructed across science, history, and belief systems. It also considers how perception itself may shape what is understood as reality, drawing on scientific discussions of cognition and quantum models of awareness.
Seen through this lens, Glimpses Into Other Worlds is not only a study of unexplained phenomena, but also an exploration of how humans make sense of the unknown—whether it is observed in the sky, recorded in ancient texts, or experienced internally.
The project was featured at the 2026 London Book Fair as part of Shanahan’s showcased works, where it drew attention for its interdisciplinary approach spanning mythology, science, and consciousness studies.
Glimpses Into Other Worlds is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other major retailers.
